a familiar thumping keeping pace with the glowing clock and a gaining rise and fall of the wind my heart keeps time with the branch tapping on the window the East Wind's talking in the closing distance I can also hear the ramblings of a summer storm gathering strength sleep evades my thoughts invade and the darkness's void is interrupted by flashes of emboldened light this is the site of Mary Shelly's dreamscape and my mind squirms within the framework of her brilliant imaginings I'd like to share these thoughts these imaginings with you but your snores also rise as the storm begins to play its strings and the first underpinnings of it unravel across the anvil pierced sky and for one moment the night's transformed into one shocking moment of daylight I lie sideways on my bed cover-less allowing the breeze to race in and ruffle the air around me my view a flickering black and stark white ticking movie screen as I wait for the electric monster to appear on the screen outside breaching the safety of my fragile window...
